Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 16 October 2026

OpenWaypoint is provided by Matthew OBrien Jones ("we", "us"), a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. When you use OpenWaypoint you are contracting with Matthew OBrien Jones. By using the service you agree to these terms.

The service

OpenWaypoint lets you plan drone flight paths on a map, export them as KMZ waypoint files and save missions to an account. Free accounts can save 3 missions; paid plans allow more.

Your account

You must be of legal age, give accurate information and keep your login details private. You are responsible for activity on your account.

Flight safety

Flight plans are generated automatically and have not been checked against airspace rules, obstacles or your drone's limits. You are solely responsible for checking every plan and for flying legally and safely, including following the rules of your country's aviation authority.

Acceptable use

Intellectual property

We own the service, its software, documentation and branding. You get a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it within your plan. Missions you create stay yours; you let us store and process them only to provide the service.

Payments and subscriptions

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, renewal, cancellation and refund terms are set out in Paddle's Buyer Terms. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; if you cancel, your plan continues until the end of the paid period.

No guarantee

The service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and to the fullest extent allowed by law we disclaim all implied warranties.

Liability

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including damage to drones or property, lost data or lost profits. Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the previous 12 months. Nothing limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury where the law does not allow it.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close accounts for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious breaches of these terms. When an account closes, saved missions may be deleted; you can download them as KMZ files beforehand.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction.
